Upon the successful completion of the M. A. in Communication Arts, General Communication specialization, graduate students must successfully defend their thesis or research paper in an oral examination before their advisor or graduate committee.

The General Communication specialization prepares students for doctoral study and teaching at the high school, community college or university level.  Courses in this sequence allow students to apply theoretical understanding to real world communication and/or theatre problems.

Graduate students studying General Communication have maximum flexibility in electie course selection to prepare them for the communication or theatre specialty they desire. Check with your advisor for complete details!

DR. FRANK PARCELLS PASSES THE GRADUATE COORDINATOR POSITION ON TO DR. JIM PARKER

After serving as the Graduate Coordinator since 2003, Dr. Parcells is leaving that position in August 2012 to return to full time teaching. Dr. Jim Parker will become the new graduate coordinator effective with the start of the Fall 2012 Semester.

Graduate students should continue to contact Dr. Parcells over the Summer about graduate student advisement or questions about the two M. A. in Communication Arts degree programs: the all online Corporate Communication program CCMA.APSU.edu and the online and on-campus General Communication program GCMA.APSU.edu.
